Kangana Ranaut Approaches Bombay HC, Files Petition To Quash FIR Against Her & Sister Registered At Bandra Police Station
New Delhi: Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut has filed a petition before the Bombay High Court, requesting the court to quash the FIR registered against her and sister Rangoli Chandel at the Bandra Police station. The Mumbai Police officials have summoned the ‘Queen’ actress and her sister three times in connection with a sedition case filed against them. Kangana, who was last seen in ‘Panga’, failed to respond to Mumbai Police’s latest summon in which they asked her and Rangoli to appear before the authorities for investigation on November 23 and 24 respectively.
Earlier this month, Kangana Ranaut, in her reply through lawyer Rizwan Siddhiqui, sought time from Mumbai Police till November 15 to appear before the officials for interrogation. She cited her brother Aksht Ranaut’s wedding as the reason and said that she won’t be able to reach Mumbai due to the celebrations.
Casting director and fitness trainer Munnawar Ali Sayyed had registered a complaint against the ‘Manikarnika’ actress and her sister, accusing them of disrupting communal harmony and creating hatred thought their social media posts. In his complaint, he alleged that Kangana and Rangoli tried to promote enmity between communities through their tweets.
The Bandra Magistrate Court directed the police to investigate the complaint, following which an FIR was filed against the two. The sisters were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code including 153A (promoting enmity between different groups), 295A (deliberate and malicious act to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting their religion) and 124A (sedition), a report in PTI said.
Kangana has been hogging all the limelight since the last four months. From her ugly spat with the Shiv Sena to her remarks on Bollywood biggies post Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, the ‘Fashion’ star has grabbed several eyeballs with her posts on social media. Her arrival in Mumbai on September 9 was met with protests from Shiv Sena workers at the airport. Ahead of her arrival, a BMC team demolished parts of her property in Pali Hill, citing ‘illegal proportions’. The actress had moved the Bombay High Court to stop BMC’s demolition drive.
On the professional front, Kangana Ranaut will be next seen in ‘Thalaivi’ in which she is playing the character of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. She has also ‘Dhaakad’ and ‘Tejas’ in her kitty.
