The 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan facelift is all set to go on sale in India tomorrow and it is one of the four SUVs the carmaker had planned to launch in India this year. The updated Tiguan made its global debut back in 2020 and along with a subtle revision in its design, its features list has also been updated. The new Volkswagen Tiguan facelift will rival the likes of the Jeep Compass, Hyundai Tucson, and Citroen C5 AirCross in our market and we expect it to be priced at ₹ 28 lakh, ex-showroom.
In terms of looks, the 2021 Volkswagen Tiguan comes with updated styling which is more in line with the brand’s current design language. It sports a slightly tweaked radiator grille with LED Matrix headlights and LED DRLs going well with its sleek front end. Moreover, the front bumper has been revamped housing a triangular shaped fog lamp. Changes at the rear are limited to just slimmer taillights.
On the inside, the cabin upholstery too has been updated and it now sports a virtual cockpit as well. The seats are wrapped in Vienna leather and the long equipment list includes 30 shades ambient lighting, illuminated scuff plates, expansive panoramic sunroof, illuminated gear knob, touchscreen infotainment with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, flat-bottom steering wheel with multi-functions, driver-side electric seat with memory function, three-zone climate control, and much more. As for safety, the SUV is loaded with six-airbags, a driver alert system, ABS, tyre pressure monitoring system, ESP, ASR, EDL, auto hold, hill start assist and hill descent control among others.
Under the hood, there is the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged engine that puts out 187 bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission as standard and will be coupled with the 4Motion all-wheel-drive (AWD) system.
